SRM release wireless Power Meter
SRM Germany are working hard to put the finishing touches on their much anticipated wireless SRM System. In fact all professional PowerMeter's starting in the second quarter of 2008 will work both wirelessly using the ANT+ Sport technology as well as with the current sending coil/sensor cable wired technology. Solar will also be an option.
These new PowerMeter's will work with the Garmin Edge 705 when it is available. Launch of the SRM Wireless PowerControl is scheduled for summer of 2008.
Since the new wireless technology (ANT+SPORT) is completely different than the current technology this requires completely different circuit boards in both the PowerMeter's and the PowerControl's. Upgrades from the current PowerMeter's and current PowerControl V will not be possible.
The new wireless PowerControl and PowerMeter's will be backwards compatible. The wireless PowerMeter will also have a sending coil, so the signal can be picked up by a PowerControl V using a sensor cable. The new wireless PowerControl will have a plug in the back for a sensor cable so it can pick up the speed and power/cadence signals from a sensor cable and an existing PowerMeter and wheel magnet.
