All Palm based GymAware sensors are Obsolete and have been replaced by the iOS Power Tool 5
Q: Can I GymSync on a computer running Vista?
A: While we are still working on GymAware and Vista compatibility, we have been testing an alternative to allow GymSync on vista 32-bit machines. The following has been tested and is working on 32-bit Windows Vista only - Please note: Palm advises that 64-bit Windows Vista is not supported for USB synchronisation. Download Palm Desktop Software from Palm Support:
http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html
This will give you the new Vista compatible palm desktop software, which contains vista USB drivers to allow syncing. Then download and install GymSync, (pages 19 & 20 in the manual). There will be no need to go on to part 2 of the install process which walks you through the install of the USB drivers as they will already have been installed with the Palm Desk Top software. You will now be able to GymSync your data to the web application.
Q: I am having some difficulty getting gymsync onto the PC. A file download screen appears for GymSync_Install163. This can be downloaded but no programme file is available to open it.
A: When you download the GymSync_Install163 - its likely that your firewall automatically removes the file extension type. The file is an executable, so it is often determined to be a risk, and by removing the file type it prevents it from being run. The work around is quite simple:
- 1st download the file to a convenient location (the desk top)
- Goto the file and "right mouse-click" or (ctrl click)
- This should popup a menu ...
- From the menu options choose "rename"
- Then add a .exe to the file name -(GymSync_Install163.exe)
- Once you have changed the file name the file type should be recognised by your computer.
- Double mouse-click on the file to begin the installation
Note: For the remainder of the installation follow the step in the quick start guide. Ensure you have administrator program install rights on your computer, and its operating systems is windows XP service pack 2 or later
Q: The Palm hand-held will not switch on.
A: The batteries may be flat. Plug the Palm into the wall charger, and recharge the battery. Alternatively connect the Palm to the PC using the USB cable. This will also charge the Palm, but the charging rate will be slower. Remember: Set the correct date and time, once the batteries have charged.
Q: The Palm displays a GymAware sensor battery low message on connection
A: The batteries in the GymAware sensor will last for over 1 year of normal use. The battery condition is continually monitored; once the remaining capacity drops to below 25% a warning will be displayed on the Palm handheld. Contact us to order replacement batteries, they are simple to change, users can do this themselves.
Q: I have forgotten my GymAware username and login details
A: If you remember your username, but have forgotten your password, click on the link password mailed to you. This action will email you your GymAware password. Note: This will only work if you have registered on gymaware.com using a valid email address. Alternatively contact us.
Q: I have forgotten My Palm Login PIN
A: Using your GymAware username and password login to gymaware.com. Select the My Info tab, your account details, include your Palm PIN number are stored here.
Q: Am I able to run multiple sets of the same exercise with the same player without having to come out of the exercise and select it again.
A:There is a option on the within GymAware on the PDA . select 'test squad' as apposed to "collect data". With this option you select the exercise up front, then select the athlete -next perform the lift, select athlete -perform lift. there is no prompt to keep selecting the exercise.
Q: Results don’t appear on my web user account, there were no errors and everything appeared to be working well.
A: Please make sure you have the correct date and time set on the Palm hand-held. All results are timestamp and referenced to the Palms date and time. If you have not maintained the battery charge in your Palm, it may have reset the date and time.
Q: GymSync is not working properly.
A: When a GymSync operation is performed, the data on the Palm hand-held is sent through the PC to GymAware’s web accounts. All data is first backed up locally on the PC so even if there is a problem with the Internet connection the data is not lost. The data will remain on the PC, it will be automatically sent once the Internet connection is restored. If you have problems please check the following;
- Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the Palm hand-held and the PC.
- Ensure that GymSyncPC is running in the system tool tray of the PC.

- Confrim that the USB driver has been successfully installed .GymSync USB TroubleShooting
- Right-mouse-click on the GymSync icon on your PC and select send log to kinetic. Next contact Kinetic, and we will assist you to solve the problem.
In addition to the above, some networks required an authenticated proxy to gain access to the Internet. This is often the case with educational and government network systems. Right mouse-click on the GymSync icon, select settings enter your user name and password.
